Interstate 95 Through Palm Bay To Be Widened Soon
A 32 mile section of I-95 from Cocoa to Malabar is slated to widened soon from 4 lanes to 6 lanes. The project is supposed to be awarded to a contractor in January of 2007 and started sometime in the summer of 2007.
This is a very welcome project for anyone along this stretch of I-95 in Brevard County. It’s too bad the project didn’t start about 5 years ago. The interstate is crowded most any time of the day but it’s especially crowded during rush hour and on the weekends. To think that the residents of Palm Bay Florida and Brevard County have to wait another year before the project starts is a little discouraging even though I’m glad to see it getting underway.
The project will cost $260 million and include a 1.75 mile sound barrier in Viera and a new interchange at the Pineda Causeway.
Hello FDOT, we’re looking forward to it!
