Palm Bay Florida Fast Facts
Believe it or not, (hey that’s a line from Ripley’s) Palm Bay Florida is now the largest city in Brevard County. It has always been the largest city in Brevard if we are counting just the land area, but now it is also the largest in population.
More than 88,000 (99,345 as of March 28, 2006) people live in the 65 square miles that comprise Palm Bay. Harris Corporation is the largest employer in Palm Bay with its two divisions located here. Other large Palm Bay employers are DRS Optronics and Intersil (used to be Harris Semi Conductor).
Palm Bay is also home to a campus of Brevard Community College where more than 160 classes are offered every semester on a variety of vocational, technical and human services subjects.
I moved to Palm Bay back in the winter of 1967 and have seen tremendous changes since those early days. We lived in Port Malabar which is the original Palm Bay community and was really the only concentrated population area in Palm Bay During the 60’s. My dad worked at Radiation (hardly a good name for a company these days) which was eventually bought out by Harris Corporation.
During those days there was only a 4 way stop at the corner of Palm Bay Road and Babcock Street. When the first stop light was installed we thought we were moving into the big time.
Palm Bay continues to expand and will have a population over 100,000 by 2008 in a few more months. New projects on the horizon include the Bayfront Community Redevelopment Plan and the Palm Bay Beltway connecting Malabar road to I-95.

I think this info might be out of date a bit. According to the city itself (at http://www.palmbayflorida.org/) the population is at 99,345 as of March 28, 2006. It is expected to break 100k in a few more months. Otherwise, keep up the good work.

I was looking for that info but couldn’t find exact figures. Thanks for the input.
